About Science Alive
Science Alive is a Harlow based charity that aims to inspire people of all ages and abilities about science and technology. Currently Science Alive delivers an outreach programme of activity into schools, village halls and children's centres right across the Eastern Region and North London.
From late 2009 it will also run a hands-on science centre which will provide an exciting, fun and comfortable learning environment for both children and adults. It will have lots of hands-on exhibits and there will be a programme of activities and shows that will be suitable for all ages and abilities.
The centre will be in the same building as Harlow’s new state-of-the-art sports centre, and will link to the theme of "Fitness" - looking at human health and fitness including genetics and medical advances, the health and protection of our planet, and "fitness for purpose" - a section focussing on fundamentals of science and technology that will address much of the KS1 and 2 curriculum.
The centre has been made possible by generous funding from the EEDA's Investing in Communities fund, managed locally by the Essex Development and Regeneration Agency (ExDRA), and is part of the Harlow Gateway programme providing much needed sports and leisure facilities and new homes within the town.
