Professor Charles Kao KBE
Congratulations to Professor Charles Kao KBE who was awarded the KBE in the 2010 Birthday Honours list for services to fibre optic communications. This follows last year's award of the Nobel Prize for Physics based on his work at Standard Telecommunications Laboratories at Harlow in the 1960s.
